This global media group is a household name, market leader in its field and employer of choice. They continue to expand and develop both organically and through acquisition. They are now looking for an experienced Finance Manager/Controller to manage the UK finance for their shared services function. Reporting to the Finance Director this is a broad role encompassing financial reporting, management accounting, FP&A at a group level as well as managing the corporate/transactional finance team. The role is responsible for internal reporting to corporate and for providing accurate management accounts and cash-flow forecasting to support departments in their decision making process as well as external reporting including management of the external audit process and the internal controls environment.Main Responsibilities: Manage the financials for overheads including preparation of the annual budget, monthly forecast updates and monthly actuals with full support required for the P&L (including detailed variance analysis), balance sheet and headcount reportingManage and develop the International financial accounting team, as well as the UK accounts payable, accounts receivable and expenses teamsDrive the Company's month-end and quarter-end processes to ensure that timely and accurate management information is provided both to the departments and the Corporate teamProvide both regular and ad hoc analysis for the Corporate team, including balance sheet commentary and quarterly supplemental reporting Provide support to the wider business in all areas of operational finance to ensure that the needs of the business are met at all timesProvide oversight of the fixed assets including maintenance of the fixed asset register and support to transactions, ensuring that policy is applied correctly with respect to capitalisation of costs, particularly in respect of IT project costsReview payroll reporting and oversee the distribution of P11Ds Provide support to the UK based tax team on all corporation tax issues as well as oversee preparation of quarterly tax packs and annual tax reporting Oversee the calculation and invoicing of the Management Services Fee, the mechanism via which WMI costs are re-charged to local affiliates Ensure intercompany balances agree with the relevant counterparties Manage compliance and enforce a robust internal control environment Review and submit bi-weekly cash-flow projections and act as point of contact for Treasury for any cash-flow queries. Pro-actively make recommendations for cash improvements Perform custodian duties for financial books and records ensuring that all sub-ledgers are accurate and that balance sheet accounts are fully and accurately reconciled on a timely basis Liaise with the IT Financial Systems team to ensure that systems-based opportunities to provide enhanced management reporting and to maintain a robust control environment are maximized Pro-actively manage the relationships with internal and external auditors, including overseeing all audit processes Act on any recommendations from auditors with regards to changes in procedures Manage the preparation and submission of the annual statutory accounts for all subsidiaries Oversee the accounts payable function, ensuring a robust control environment is maintained at all times, key supplier statements are reconciled on a regular basis, and supplier payments are managed effectively Oversee the accounts receivable function, ensuring that the company's working capital is effectively managed, group accounting policy is applied appropriately Manage the Shared Services expenses team, including monthly reporting for UK companies Other ad hoc tasks as directed Skills / experience required: ACA/CIMA/ACCA qualified Strong analytical skills and an ability to work through problems logically and with perspective. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, interacting effectively at all levels in business. Experience of managing a team including some transactional staffGroup /Head office experience is preferable but some exposure to operations is also desirableMedia experience preferred but not essential Knowledge of SAP preferred but again not essential Excellent career prospects and exposure across the business.
