Policy and External Funding Officer
The London Borough of Waltham Forest is determined to help all of our residents experience a quality life in London. As our core funding from central government continues to decrease we know we need to become more systematic and creative in seeking alternative sources of funding to deliver our priorities for residents. Waltham Forest council has successfully attracted external funding from the EU, Arts Council England, Heritage Lottery Fund and government departments for notable projects including the William Morris Gallery, Mini Holland and Lea Bridge Station. We believe dedicating resources to attracting external funding will maximise our success in this area going forward.
We are therefore looking for a skilled and dynamic individual to lead our efforts to attract external funding to Waltham Forest, identifying opportunities, developing policy and partnerships with funders and other partners, and preparing bids.
The successful applicant will be a smart and pragmatic individual with the right range of skills to make this new post a success. They will have experience of working in external fundraising, policy development, research or public affairs in a public body, charity or think tank. They will be experienced at partnership working and developing collaborative projects, as well as having excellent communication, organisation and influencing skills. They will need to have the authority and credibility to build successful relationships with politicians, senior managers and partners.
This post sits within the council's Policy and Public Affairs Team, but will work closely with services across the organisation who have the potential to attract external funding.
