Instrumentation Technician x 2

An opportunity has arisen to recruit an Electrical and Instrumentation shift Technician at our clients manufacturing site in Tyne & Wear. This role offers a permanent position.

Some key responsibilities include:

Ensure that all engineering tasks are performed safely by employing risk/manual handling and COSHH assessments.
Ensure that incidents and near misses are reported promptly to the appropriate external/internal departments.
Ensure that caution sheets and safety data sheets are used when dealing with chemicals.
Operate as part of the process team to meet targets in all relevant areas of activity, and to ensure that products are produced in accordance with the agreed production/business plan.
Maintain the efficiency of all processes by minimising downtime due to breakdowns: initiate and implement remedial action where required.
Participate in a continuous improvement environment in all areas of process team operations.
Carry out all engineering activities in accordance with full cGMP requirements and other appropriate quality standards.
Highlight any potential quality issues to relevant personnel.
Ensure that training is obtained before any new operation is carried out.
Identify any training needs to enable the role to be performed at the required standard.
Work with other members of the Process Team and Engineering to ensure that the needs of customers are identified and satisfied and business goals are met.
Work alongside other departments to ensure that all the business needs are met.

The successful candidate must have a recognised trade apprenticeship, in Instrumentation. NVQ level 3 in trade skill or equivalent qualification. You will also have full knowledge of plant maintenance systems, production systems and standards. You also must be able to undertake risk assessments on a variety of plant and equipment and have relevant experience working on chemical process equipment and maintenance.

Your abilities will be complimented with strong communication and problem solving skills as well as basic trade skills in other engineering disciplines. Knowledge of HS&E including caution sheets, risk assessments, manual handling assessments and COSHH would be desirable but not essential.

The shift pattern with be in line with the production a 5 shift pattern shift patterns 7am - 7pm, or 7pm - 7am.
