Secondary Humanities Teacher | Chorley

This exciting Secondary Humanities Teacher position, available for an initial a long term contract, and beginning in September 2017 is the perfect opportunity to join a modern and active academy in the Chorley area.

This Humanities position will teach a variable timetable of both Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 class groups. You will be required to plan and deliver engaging lessons that stretch the understanding of students of all abilities. Where appropriate, students should be given the opportunity to discuss and debate their ideas in order to become independent learners. The school has a large Humanities department where teachers are given the opportunity to teach a range of subjects and a strong candidate will relish the opportunity to work within such an environment.

This Ofsted 'Good' academy caters for over 1100 students, and is built on a culture of respect - respect for staff and for each other that ensures students learn in an aspirational environment conducive to achievement. The academy believes that there is more to learning than assessment and that in order to prepare students for living in a global society it is vital to learn about other beliefs, cultures and values. They also provide many opportunities for learning to continue outside of the classroom through the provision of visiting workshops and educational school trips. Through developing a love of learning their mission is for students to leave after attaining high level qualifications that prepare them for either further education or employment.

*Hold QTS or equivalent qualifications that allow you to be placed in schools
*Manage classes effectively using a range of strategies
*Build and develop professional relationships with both school staff and students
*Be flexible in teaching different subjects within Humanities
*Be provided with various development opportunities as your career within education flourishes
