Lancashire base with UK travel

GBP30,000 - GBP40,000 dependant on current career level

SRG is working with an international organisation specialising in the development and marketing of products and laboratory services for the global agricultural and food industries.

As a result of recent acquisitions and their continued success they have a newly created role for a Health, Safety and Environmental Manager to be responsible for driving cultural change with regards to the implementation and sustainability of health, safety and environmental activities within the business. The successful individual will be based in Lancashire, but as this is a group role it will also involve some UK travel to other sites. Perhaps you are currently working in Health and Safety in a none management role and are looking for the next step up in your career, or maybe you are an already well established HSE Manager looking for a new challenge - either way we would love to hear from you.

The role:

* Consolidation and management of HSE systems implementing group policy and procedures across 3 main sites - all have manufacturing but vary in size
* To monitor, evaluate and review existing and new environmental, health and safety legislation ensuring compliance.
* Ensuring compliance with internal health and safety policies/strategies and conducting safety audits to ensure safe working practices.
* Providing Induction training for new employees and annual refresher H&S training for existing employees.
* Undertaking risk assessments and reporting any corrective, preventative actions to management.
* Controlling the permit to work system including providing contractors with on site Induction training.
* Controlling, maintaining and improving COSHH risk assessments.
* Controlling the accident/incident reporting system including trending.
* Liaising with specialist bodies such as the HSE and Environment Agency.

The main requirements for this role are:

* Ability to create a HSE vision and strategy, implement it and influence others to follow through
* NEBOSH certified to a minimum of Certificate level is preferred though IOSH would be considered
* Detailed knowledge and understanding of current Health, Safety and Environment legislation and requirements
* Knowledge/experience of the chemicals/COMAH advantageous, though any manufacturing background and a willingness to learn will be considered
* Internal auditing experience (ISO14001 auditor)
* CDM experience advantageous
