The company is looking for a motivated and talented senior software engineer who is keen to help them develop better ways of producing avionics software systems.


* Analysis and critical review of Software Standards
* Contribute to Software Architecture discussions, both internally and in industry forums
* Support industry forum meetings, both in the UK and abroad
* Compile and contribute to research reports
* Development of example software code to support experimentation
* Lead focused research work packages, deliver reports etc. on time and within budget, and report on progress as required.
* Build relationships externally and internally with key software capability stakeholders, ranging from those knowledgeable in software, to key decision makers with a limited understanding of software development.

Essential Skills

* Background in embedded software systems
* Understanding of rigorous development processes used to generate high quality reliable software
* Requirements capture
* Software architecting
* Analysis and design
* Experience of the application of a full software development lifecycle i.e. requirements generation to a signed off system where a degree of process rigour has been required

Desirable Skills

* Understanding of the architectures of Real Time Operating Systems / middleware and their application
* RTOS use (Greenhills Multi and Integrity RTOS experience is desirable)
* SysML / UML design modelling
* RTCA DO-178C(or DO-178B)
* PowerPC or ARM processors middleware software architecture standards such as ASAAC, ARINC 653 or FACE
* Enterprise Architecture skills e.g. TOGAF
* Hard Real-Time / Embedded software development

Suitable candidates for this position will come from a strong academic background and will have an advanced understanding of the challenges associated with software engineering of avionics equipment. The successful candidate will also have good written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, high levels of personal motivation, integrity and professionalism, flexibility, commitment to delivery, and innovation
