Flexible working, Full-time, Part-time and Job share

The Department for International Development (DFID) leads the UK’s work to end extreme poverty. We're ending the need for aid by creating jobs, unlocking the potential of girls and women and helping to save lives when humanitarian emergencies hit.

We’re looking to recruit senior individuals who can lead, inspire, empower and confidently engage teams to end extreme poverty and who wish to be leaders either within international development or the Civil Service.

You will be able to articulate clearly how you can deliver our commitments by:

  • setting strategic direction;
  • shaping and integrating policy;
  • leading and managing programmes and teams to deliver;
  • working with and influencing Ministers and stakeholders;
  • building capability;
  • maintaining DFID’s performance and reputation;
  • contributing to organisational goals and improvement.

DFID offers a generous reward package. As well as a salary of £72,000 per annum; the package includes membership of the Civil Service Pension scheme arrangements. Any allowances for overseas posts will be discussed at the assessment centre with candidates.

We are committed to investing in our staff and offer a range of work based training and qualifications, coaching and mentoring opportunities and a guaranteed five days of learning a year. A comprehensive induction will also be provided for all staff who are new to DFID.

We recognise the importance of a good work-life balance and offer flexible working and a family friendly approach to work.

You’ll be part of a leadership cadre working with a wide range of committed, inspiring and influential experts and professionals. This is a great opportunity to join DFID to take up high profile and challenging roles that have the potential to make a significant impact on people’s lives and communities in some of the poorest and most difficult environments in the world.

Please apply via the Civil Service Jobs by close on midnight 28 June 2017.

DFID is an equal opportunities employer. DFID embraces diversity and promotes equality of opportunity. There is a guaranteed interview scheme (GIS) for candidates with disabilities who meet the minimum selection criteria.
