Mitrefinch is a software focused service business specialising in the development of intelligent Workforce Management and Time and Attendance Solutions. This York based business recently underwent a MBO backed by LDC Private Equity.

Established in the UK in 1979, Mitrefinch has grown to a current turnover of cGBP20m and EBITDA of GBP4.6m. The business is expected to grow at 20% year on year, and has operations globally in Australia, America and Canada along with an Irish Joint Venture. The company has a current client base of over 3,500 in a wide range of business sectors, varying in size from a few employees to many thousands.

The business prides itself on its investment into research and development, allowing the company to deliver innovative solutions, ensuring significant sales into existing as well as new customers. Solutions are configured to the clients' needs offering reduced costs, increased productivity, better decision-making, improved employee satisfaction, and alignment with organisational objectives. The offering has been developed into a modular system with one of its latest modules being a rostering service which has already been well received by customers.

Mitrefinch manufactures all its own hardware, and develops its own software. Once the solution has been installed and configured, the company provides ongoing support and maintenance. A key element of the service offer is to provide rapid and effective response to retain the value of the solution and resolve customer problems. Revenues from maintenance activities make up about 40% of total sales.

The Requirement

Reporting to the CFO, the requirement is for a Group Financial Controller to manage all finance, accounting and tax matters for the Group, devise and implement improved processes and controls suitable for a growing business with PE backing and select and implement new IT systems as necessary.

The appointed Group Financial Controller will

Establish themselves as the right hand person to the CFO in preparation for the next phase of growth, including further international expansion and potential acquisitions.
??Produce monthly consolidated management accounts and annual statutory accounts for Group

??Manage and lead the centralised finance team of 4 responsible for, amongst other things:

oDay to day transactional entries

oDebtor collections

oCreditor payments

oPayroll

oBank and control account reconciliations

??Oversee completion of VAT returns

??Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors and Private Equity investor representatives

??In conjunction with external advisors complete corporation tax returns for the Group

??Work with the CFO to develop budgets and forecasts for the Group

Work with the CFO to develop monthly reporting and enhance financial systems and controls, and develop the current finance team
Understand the key drivers in the business and introduce and manage KPIs to enhance performance and manage costs appropriately.
Assist with the banking relationship, group treasury and cash management
Undertake other ad hoc projects as agreed with the CFO.
Candidate Assessment Criteria

A qualified ACA with industry experience
A successful track record as a Financial Controller within an SME business
International experience
Strong forecasting and modelling skills.
Willing to take the lead and make difficult decisions. Empowers others by providing a relevant balance of direction and support, depending on the individual's needs
A logical and structured approach ensuring goals are fully understood by the wider business
Equally important will be the candidate's generic ability and attitude. They must demonstrate a real excitement for the business and the role, possessing an attitude suited to a private equity backed business.
