Babcock International Group is currently looking to appoint a Finance & Commercial Manager to work onsite in Kingston, Milton Keynes. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the business Operational teams / Finance Manager with appropriate financial information and for all aspects of the day to day running of the Skills and Learning finances.

The ideal candidate for this role will be either ACCA / CIMA / ACA qualified with strong commercial experience and previous experience in supporting operational management teams.

You must be able to travel to other UK locations, Portsmouth & London as and when required.


• Liaise with and support of Operational Management teams to provide a high level of financial expertise
• To use financial information to constructively challenge business activity in order to increase profits and improve efficiencies
• Supervise, support and develop the Finance team to ensure that the finance department adds value to the business.
• To ensure the provision of monthly and annual accounts, budgets, rolling forecasts and strategic plans to agreed business timetables
• Actively participate in business and contract reviews
• Ensure business dashboards are current and relevant to the business and delivered in a timely fashion
• Provide support in bidding activity, including co-ordinating, testing and presenting bid financial information to the Skills and Learning Management team
• Support and manage internal and external audit requirements, including ensuring timely resolution of audit findings and comments
• To work with other members of the Skills and Learning finance team to drive forward continuous improvement
• Responsible for tight balance sheet management and control (with regular balance sheet and contract reviews)
• Performing other ad-hoc tasks as required by the Head of Finance / Finance Director / Operations Director


• Qualified ACCA or CIMA or ACA
• Advanced Excel and good Access skills
• Strong financial reporting and costs analysis
• Commercially astute
• People management experience
• Able to prepare and present difficult and complex financial/operational information in a simple and meaningful way
• Experience of Navision or IFS and Cognos would be an advantage
• Creates a culture of high performance and people management and actively manages poor performance
• Aligns functions and resources, and deploys people and skills optimally to achieve strategic priorities
• Maintains focus, manages and delivers under pressure
• Clear focus, attention to detail, commercially astute and a strategic thinker focused on execution
• Highly motivated
