We have an exciting career opportunity for a Group Accountant to join our Finance Team at our UK head office in Birmingham .

As a Group Accountant for Europe , Middle East and Asia you will report into the SCC EMEA Financial Controller and be an integral part of a small group finance team that has for the monthly consolidation of the SCC EMEA group management accounts and associated statutory reporting , including preparation of the annual business plan and quarterly forecasting , whilst also providing the control framework for the finance operation across the group .

Main Duties :

???CONSOLIDATION - supporting the monthly consolidation of the SCC EMEA group using Cognos controller responsible for ensuring that all consolidation journals are posted accurately .
???REPORTING - Assist in preparation of monthly management accounts from submissions by country Financial Directors to strict timetables to issue flash results , actual results and board packs , preparing explanatory analysis of variance to budget and prior year .Prepare analysis to provide insight into the financial performance of the SCC EMEA group and challenge local operational finance teams and assist in development of reporting suite from Cognos to support the monthly reporting cycle .
???BUDGETING and FORECASTING -Participate in annual budgeting and quarterly forecast process for the EMEA group consolidation . Supporting financial planning and analysis in the local operational finance teams .
???ANNUAL REPORTING and TAXATION -Provide input into the external audit process in relation to the EMEA consolidation .Support the Financial Controller in the preparation of consolidated Financial Statement for the SCC EMEA group and also preparation of statutory accounts for other group companies as required . Liaising with Group tax function to collate data for tax computations across the group .
???PROJECTS/INITIATIVES CONTROL - Assist in implementation and monitoring of robust accounting policies and procedures in line with UK GAAP , identify areas for improvement and investigation of commercial advantages , financial control risks and the exchange of best practice between companies .Undertaking detailed financial investigations at the request of the senior finance team and in support of local finance teams .Support the Financial Controller in the review of financial control related issues and support internal audit and governance objectives .Participation in finance related projects in planning , reporting , control , systems, new business and , where appropriate , tax related projects .

Skills and Experience :

???ACA Qualified Accountant with strong technical skills appropriate to an acquisitive group .
???Excellent communication and reporting skills
???Strong financial modelling and Excel skills
???Experience of Cognos applications - Controller and TM1 -preferable
???Attention to detail with commitment to delivering a high quality professional output .
???Hands on approach to problem solving with enthusiasm and a strong work ethic , with proven ability to work to tight deadlines .
???Commercial outlook with a demonstrable approach to adding value to the business .
