Our client is a fast growing specialist retail lending and savings group serving the UK and is authorised by the PRA and regulated by the FCA. They have built a strong reputation as a specialist lender offering a broad range of products to UK SME's and consumers including Residential, Buy-To-Let/SME Mortgages and Personal Loans.

The core responsibility of the Roving Underwriter role is to effectively manage underwriting referrals from Packagers working with them and the National Account Managers to underwrite new applications and agreement in principles on site to improve the quality and quantity of business from chosen partners. Key responsibilities include:

• Attend Packagers offices up to four days a week to underwrite on site, with the other day(s) based at the nearest office
• Work with the National Account Managers to assist them in growing the quality and quantity of the business from the packagers resulting in an improvement in packaging and day 1 formal offers
• Assist with the training of packager staff on submission of cases
• Underwrite allocated applications to offer, within assigned mandate level and agreed service standards, requesting further information from relevant stakeholders where required and verifying this on receipt
• Offer mortgages to approved borrowers, within assigned mandate level and agreed service standards, requesting any outstanding information if required and verifying it on receipt
• Review Agreement in Principle requests in a timely manner ensuring that the information meets the requirements of the Bank's Lending Policy and confirms decisions to the relevant intermediary
• Communicate with the packagers on declined cases, handling objections and providing objective feedback to any questions.
• Participate in any ad hoc or strategic project work as and when required.

The successful candidate will have:

• 5 years previous Financial Services experience is essential
• 2 years underwriting experience with a personal lending mandate is essential
• Experience of residential and buy to let lending is essential
• Experience of commercial and bridging lending is desirable
• Previous experience of remote working is desirable
