Henshaws Specialist College is a transformational place. Through our personalised approach to education, learning and care we empower children and young people living with a disability to progress and live life the way they want.

Whether that's preparing for employment, making friends or learning to live more independently, we enable our students to make their aspirations possible and goals a reality.

We are now looking to recruit a Programme Leader for Employability and Enterprise to enable and equip students to gain the knowledge, skills and confidence to engage in the world of work, to live a fulfilling and productive life.

The successful candidate will be a 'can do' educational professional with a full teaching qualification, who possesses significant experience of working with children or young people with SEND. A good working knowledge of creating interesting and creative study programmes including both accredited and non-accredited measures of attainment is essential.

A key element of the role is employer and community engagement; the post-holder will lead their team in continuing to recruit commercial employers, develop social enterprise activities, develop further opportunities on site for work skills development and support the students in their continuing success in the Young Enterprise field, where our students currently hold regional awards for their manufacturing business.

The post holder will offer high quality teaching, learning and assessment and lead on the essential evaluation and self-assessment processes to ensure continuous quality improvement across the College.

They will monitor and manage session leaders with a range of specialisms delivering across the programme area. Working closely with a wide range of on-site professionals, the embedded physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy along with assistive technologies will ensure that the barriers to access are overcome. The post-holder will develop the role of in-class support staff to continue to challenge learners to push past their boundaries.

If you are interested in this role, please refer to the job description and person specification for a full overview of the requirements.
