The role involves reporting on the condition of the electrical installations within properties and communal areas within the Oxford area, carrying out emergency repairs where necessary and documentation of electrical departures in order to maintain compliance with statutory and non -statutory documentation

Role purpose:
To carry out inspection and testing of electrical installations (mainly domestic) to BS7671:th Edition as amended work on a full range of Oxford City Council Buildings and Private Clients.
To produce high quality electrical installation condition reports.

Role responsibilities and main duties:
Carrying out electrical Inspection and testing of electrical installations in both Council and privately owned buildings, to BS7671:th Edition as amended.
Making safe any dangerous or potentially dangerous conditions found, via a van stock and arrange for conditions to be rectified.
Completing a minimum of 3 No. Electrical Installation Condition Reports of domestic electrical installations or the equivalent per working day (as specified by the Electrical Compliance and Installation Manager (ECIM).
Carrying out surveys of existing electrical installations or for new electrical installations as specified by the ECIM and to measure, specify and schedule as required for remedial or new works to be priced.
Ensuring all records of inspections and testing and any surveys are promptly fed back to the ECIM as per EQC Team standard operating procedures.
Liaising with colleagues and tenants to feedback issues with access, efficiency and safe working practice.
Ensuring all work is undertaken in accordance with the appropriate health and safety legislation and codes of practice.
Regularly ensuring that test equipment is appropriate and is checked regularly by the in house plant team.
Completing other non-electrical paperwork in line with council policy and to agreed deadlines.
Checking Direct Services electrical work and that of its sub-contractors is to BS7671 and agreed specification.

Essential Criteria:
Qualified to City and Guilds standard or equivalent (17th edition)
Qualified to NVQ level 3 in electrical installation work (or equivalent)
A thorough working knowledge of BS 7671 : 2008 wiring regulations as amended
Experience of inspecting and testing electrical installations, and the accurate translation of test results
Full clean, valid UK Driving Licence (or European equivalent) maximum of 5 active penalty points accepted with the ability to provide own transport. This includes plant and materials.
Qualified to City and Guilds 2391-(2394 & 2395) inspection and testing (or equivalent)
Experience of completing NICEIC condition reports.
Good working knowledge of Health and Safety requirements related to working in occupied domestic properties
