If so, this is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Aeronautical Operations Officer to join our HM Coastguard's National Maritime Operations Centre (NMOC).
HM Coastguard's National Maritime Operations Centre (NMOC) provides the function of the UK Aeronautical Rescue Coordination Centre (ARCC) as required by International Treaty obligations and UK national requirements. Search and Rescue (SAR) coordination of all aviation assets and the tasking, deployment and coordination of UK aviation SAR assets within the air, land and sea areas of the UK Search and Rescue Region (UK SRR) is the primary purpose of this function.
• To coordinate the response to aviation incidents and those incidents requiring SAR aviation assets, as assigned to them by the AOC to support Maritime, Aeronautical and inland SAR requests
• To identify, task and deploy the most suitable SAR aviation asset following any request for SAR aircraft assistance from an authorised coordinating authority (UK Police, Fire, Ambulance or Coastguard and foreign SAR services) after determining if the request is a relevant and appropriate use of the asset(s)
• Once SAR aviation assets are deployed the SAOO will coordinate all aeronautical aspects of that incident
• To maintain accurate records of SAR tasking for legal and statistical requirements
• Being responsible and accountable for own continuous personal development by participating in training, exercises and team assessments, and undertaking mandatory work
You will have strong coordination and communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders including Aviators and Mariners. You should have operational experience of working with Air assets or deployment of air rescues.
O'Level/GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths is an essential requirement.
You must not have been dismissed by the MCA within the past 24 months for failure to pass the required training for operational posts within HM Coastguard.
Based in the National Maritime Operations Centre you will be required to work 24/7 shifts and also periodically rotate out of the watch rota in order to undertake wider project or developmental work.
You will be required to attend formal training events and this may require spending time away from home and the normal workplace.
Periodic travel to support the short notice establishment of a combined tactical air cell, should the need arise. This is anticipated to be for a minimal duration and could be located anywhere within the UK as required.
You will be subject to health standard requirements.

Selection process details
After submission of your application you will be invited to complete three online tests (Situational Judgement test, Verbal Reasoning and Numerical Reasoning ).

Guidance for each test will be available when you are invited to take the test.
The tests are administered online and accessed via the CS Jobs website.
Some applicants may have difficulty using the tests, for different reasons.
