Our vision is for the children and families of Rotherham to routinely experience and describe the services they receive from us, as outstanding. And we intend to do that by putting the child first in everything we do.
Change is happening at Rotherham's Children and Young People's Services. We offer a 'total reward' package which means our social workers and managers are 'well paid, well managed and well developed'. We have secured vital funding for the significant expansion of our workforce, with a strong focus on child protection. We are also in the process of upgrading our administrative capability with much-improved IT systems.
We have restructured to enable us to deploy much smaller teams. This means a greater degree of supervision and a more appropriate caseload level - enabling our practitioners to focus on fewer customers, ensuring those who need us most get the attention they need.
We have invested in training programmes and set out a clear career development pathway. From continuing your professional development with ongoing, practical training, to reaching senior management levels, at Rotherham there is a definite ladder to be climbed for those with talent and ambition. In return we are looking for a real commitment to making a difference to the children and families in need of our care.
Due to the restructure and expansion of our workforce, we are now actively seeking a CSE Team Manager to join us. This is a great opportunity for a managerial Social Worker with considerable experience of child protection to really make their mark in a well-resourced division.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Our CSE cluster of Children's Social Care Teams are each led by a Team Manager. Team Managers lead Social Worker teams within a department that specialises in the prevention of Child Sexual Exploitation. As such they are the lynch pins in our organisation: leading and supporting our people in the field and carrying out the day-to-day management of child protection services to children and young people. They will carry out the day-to-day management, of a multi-agency team which comprises social workers, police colleagues and health workers. Reporting to Service Managers, our Team Managers play a crucial role, dealing with staff at all levels, interpreting and communicating feedback and providing an important, positive interface for their practitioners, in a multi-agency environment. They play a critical part in identifying children who may be at risk of harm specifically through sexual exploitation. An important responsibility will be ensuring that those children have individual intervention plans and victim profiles which address risk, need and vulnerability. More broadly, our CSE Team Managers are required to take a key role in planning and implementing service development and improvement to meet local and national priorities. We are confident that you will be joining an organisation that is rewarding in every sense, for every individual. And most importantly, that will serve our community to the highest possible standards.
You will have experience of managing a team within a child protection service.
You will have experience of acting in an advisory role specifically in relation to CSE practice and/or policy.
You will be able to take a key role in planning and improving services.
You will be used to undertaking workload and caseload reviews.
You will be empathetic and sensitive to the needs of those reporting to you, treating people with fairness and respect.
You will know how to measure and monitor to ensure everyone performs at their best, including knowledge of auditing processes to ensure statutory compliance.
You will be robust enough to deal with complaints or incidents diplomatically.
You will be an influential negotiator when dealing with potential conflict.
You will have a knack for communicating complex messages in a straightforward way.
You will not be afraid to think outside the box to solve long-standing problems.
You will be capable of making decisions even when there is uncertainty.
You will see the big picture and be open to working with others.
You will be skilled at engaging with others and building constructive working relationships with others.
You will be passionate about maximising a child's life chances.
You will care.
