The Complete Works is looking for an Assistant Head to join the senior leadership team of our dynamic school.
TCW is a charity led Independent School and offers education to young people of all ages and abilities who are unable to access mainstream education. The reasons for their enrolment at our school are varied including social, emotional, behavioural and medical needs. Under the banner of 'Learning Creatively, Achieving Academically' TCW recruit our staff from a variety of backgrounds, all of whom are committed to using their expertise to support the young people to build on the skills that they already possess. Our teaching staff undergo a rigorous training programme so they can develop their teaching practice, in order to meet the varying and ever changing needs of our TCW students. With these skills we are able to offer tailored learning to meet the needs of all our students. This is achieved in small groups or individual one-to-one education sessions, which may take place in libraries, student homes or one of our centres. All staff, whether teaching or administrative, must therefore be adaptable and resilient.
This role is responsible for the education of our students offsite and the management of the staff working with them. The role directly line manages the Education Support Officers that co-ordinate and support the offsite education and requires strong, experienced leadership. As well as working with the staff and students the assistant head is expected to liaise with our various referrers and form positive relationships while being clear on what service we are able to offer. As a member of the senior leadership team the Assistant Head also plays an important role in helping form the development and direction of the school.
The successful candidate will be a very experienced manager, preferably in the education or charity sector. They will be able to cope in pressurised situations, manage a range of logistical challenges, prioritise a workload, pay careful attention to detail, maintain discretion and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. They will be a strong, motivational leader able to guide and support the staff while holding everyone to high standards. All while maintaining a good sense of humour!
This role is based in Aldgate, East London and comes with a generous amount of out of term time leave.
