Approved Mental Health Professional

Location: Thoresby House, Sherwood Energy Village, Darwin Drive, Ollerton, Notts, NG22 9FF

We require a qualified and authorised Approved Mental Health Professional who is a dynamic, skilled and enthusiastic team member to provide high quality Mental Health Act assessments as part of our centralised Countywide AMHP Team.

The appointed person will be based at Ollerton but will be expected to travel throughout the County of Nottinghamshire. You will be part of a team of 10 FTE Advanced Social Work Practitioner AMHP's, a Team Manager with a dedicated business support administrator. Although the team is currently staffed by social work AMHP's we are happy to receive applications from practising AMHP Allied Health Professionals such as Nurses and Occupational Therapists.

Your duties will also include manning a single point of access triage and referral system, gathering assessment information and deploying colleagues to assessments. You will also be expected to advise a variety of professionals about matters relating to mental health legislation and other challenging demands such as supervising AMHP trainees and district AMHPs.

Excellent communication skills, record keeping, experience of safeguarding issues and quality report writing skills are essential. You will be dealing with service users, their carers, and a range of fellow professionals from partnership agencies. You will be required to deputise for the team manager on occasions, to work on your own initiative, meet deadlines whilst working under pressure and have an awareness of and a commitment to Equality and Diversity as well as Health and Safety issues especially lone working. Knowledge of current safeguarding processes is also necessary.

Disabled applicants who meet the essential shortlisting requirements will be guaranteed an interview. A job share scheme is available for all full time posts: both permanent and temporary, unless otherwise stated. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and we expect all staff to share this commitment and undergo appropriate checks.
