Are you a qualified Social Worker who would enjoy working directly with individuals, groups and communities across age groups & backgrounds?

It is an exciting time in the public sector for deaf people as the British Sign Language (Scotland) Act 2015 is implemented and the Scottish Government's See Hear strategy gains momentum. Our Social Work team is responsible for the provision of effective social work, care assessment & management with deaf people on behalf of 4 local authorities, and is a generic service - meaning we encompass a range of specialities and our workers are exposed to a variety of experiences and rewarding challenges.

We place emphasis on direct practice and one-to-one communication due to the needs of our service user groups. We offer a very supportive environment, exposure to British Sign Language, access to training courses & personal development opportunities and the opportunity to work with varied service user & community groups.

Deaf Action is looking for a qualified social worker who is well-organised and enthusiastic to work with a diverse service user group. A high standard of interpersonal and communication skills is essential but you will also need to have excellent analytical, writing & reporting skills, be able to pick up new things quickly and cope with a varied workload. You will be a supportive team player while confidently working to your own initiative when required, be open to feedback & reflection and have a commitment to continuous personal development. You must be registered, or be eligible for registration, with the Scottish Social Services Council as a Social Worker.

Being able to communicate in British Sign Language is essential - we will provide training. Applications from deaf people are particularly welcome.
