Could you make a difference to a whole landscape?

We are thrilled to have gained funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund to deliver a Landscape Partnership programme, which will help us raise awareness of the heritage value of the Greensand Country in Bedfordshire and to reverse the gradual decline in the distinct landscape character of this beautiful and loved place.

Help us to create a living and working landscape that is cherished by present and future generations and a rich natural and built heritage which is sustained and understood.

The role

You will have an important role in our Landscape Partnership. You will inspire and enable community groups and volunteers to deliver community projects that promote, protect and enhance the Greensand Country's cultural, natural and built heritage. You will work with historic parkland owners to help them create management plans, develop funding bids and deliver projects. You will also monitor and mentor all our Partnership Project Managers too and help them evaluate their projects. There is a shortage of heritage skills in the area, so you will plan, develop and facilitate a skills development programme.

What we are looking for

You will have a passion for landscape heritage and a real talent for project management. You will love mentoring others less experienced than yourself with a supportive and encouraging approach, but will be able to challenge when necessary. You will know what every manager is doing and will keep the Programme Manager informed, always asking for help if you need it.

You will have lots to do, but you will be part of a welcoming and approachable team. You will have a willingness to roll up your sleeves and muck in. You will be encouraged to use your own initiative and find creative approaches.

You will be an exceptional communicator and will inspire others, as you give talks, work with the press and attend partner events as part of promoting and generating publicity for the Landscape Partnership.

If you feel like the person who can help us make this difference, we would love to hear from you!

The Partnership

The Greensand Country Landscape Partnership is led by the Greensand Trust and Bedfordshire Rural Communities Charity (BRCC), and comprises a wide range of organisations from across the area. The post holder will be employed by BRCC, and will divide their time between Cardington and the Greensand Trust's office at Maulden Wood (both near Bedford). The role will involve travel across the Greensand Country area.
