Senior Legal Advisor, Commercial
About the role:
We are looking for a qualified Solicitor with significant experience in contract, IP and consumer law, to join the Commercial team within Legal & Business Affairs, on a 12-month fixed-term contract. Reporting to the Legal Counsel, Commercial, you will be responsible for ensuring that the business has the necessary legal advice and support, documents and tools, policies and training for all of its transactions with customers and suppliers worldwide.
You will provide timely and effective legal support to the sales and marketing teams in our three global product groups, ensuring that our dealings with customers and end-users are fair, supportive of the Cambridge brand and mission, and comply with relevant laws. You will also support the Legal Counsel, Commercial in developing and implementing improved processes and procedures for contract management, to ensure that all matters can be dealt with efficiently and effectively to deliver a high-level of service to the business.
Along with sound and proven legal skills, you will be a strong communicator with a collaborative and supportive approach, providing expert guidance at a time and in a way which enables business colleagues to achieve their objectives. Whatever you are working on, you will be able to lead confidently on your own initiatives and projects, as well as working collaboratively with others in the team and wider organisation.
You will be a qualified Solicitor in England & Wales (or another common-law jurisdiction), you will have 5+ years' PQE and significant experience in advising on sales, commercial and marketing issues, ideally in a media or digital business. You will be able to demonstrate detailed knowledge of, and technical expertise in, dealing with a varied caseload. You will feel confident in handling a broad range of non-contentious work, and your expertise in contract review, drafting and negotiation will allow you to work effectively, both with a high degree of autonomy and as part of the wider Commercial team. Your success will be further underpinned by your ability to work at pace, with a practical and pragmatic approach, when advising on a wide variety of day-to-day matters.
