Service Manager

Grade 15 - GBP50,450 to GBP55,679

Location: Leicestershire County Council, Coalville, Leics, LE67 3EA.

Contract type: Permanent

An opportunity has arisen for a passionate and experienced Service Manager to lead the Leicestershire Disabled Children's Service on our journey to provide the best possible support and transition to adulthood for disabled children and their families.

The successful candidate will be a qualified social worker with substantial experience as Team Manager or Service Manager. You will be driven by a strong sense of social justice, a commitment to educational and social inclusion and a belief that all children and young people, regardless of their level of need, should be listened to and afforded every opportunity to lead a safe, happy and fulfilling life.

The Disabled Children's Service includes two social work teams and an occupational therapy team and is moving towards a life-cycle approach to disability. The Service is well established and staff are well-motivated and mutually supportive, sharing a good range of expertise and specialist knowledge. Using the Signs of Safety approach the Service supports children in need, children subject to child protection plans and children in the care of the Local Authority. As disabled children are especially vulnerable you will require substantial experience in the field of child protection.

You will understand that the key to delivering improved outcomes at a time of continued austerity is effective partnership working through an energised and well-focussed staff team. Your mission will be to achieve just that.

Working as part of our Leicestershire Children and Families extended leadership team you will have the opportunity to contribute to the overall development of children's social care, education and early help services at a time of renewed focus upon innovation and service transformation. You will be well supported in your professional development - including training in Signs of Safety.
