The Joseph Rowntree Foundation and Housing Trust is an independent charitable organisation working to inspire social change through research, policy and practice. Our vision is for a prosperous UK without poverty, where everyone can thrive and contribute. We are building on our strategy by working with private, public and voluntary sectors, individuals and communities to inspire debate and action, and to develop solutions. The Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust (JRHT) provides communities for people of all ages where everyone can participate and thrive. We provide general needs housing as well as residential, nursing and extra care schemes.

As a result of reviewing our strategic plan, we are going through exciting times as we establish a new permanent leadership structure for the delivery of excellent, safe and modern care in our organisation.

As Head of Care Services reporting to our Director of Care Services, your overarching responsibility will be to manage and develop the operation of JRHT's care services to deliver safe, effective and high-quality services to residents, whilst providing effective day-to-day leadership to care managers. As well as developing and maintaining an engaged high-performing workforce using sound workforce planning and recruitment and retention processes, you will also ensure that staffing rotas reflect best practice and staff are deployed efficiently and cost-effectively.

In addition you will also:

  • monitor the quality of care and the operation of policies and processes
  • identify areas for improvement in close liaison with our Head of Quality & Compliance
  • Deputise for the Director of Care when required.

With significant practical experience, you must have a proven management track record across multiple sites in older people's care services, having acted as a CQC-registered manager. With good knowledge of the Health & Social Care act 2008, you will also have detailed knowledge of the CQC's key lines of enquiry, along with sound understanding of financial management and budget setting. You will also have a high level of credibility in the care sector and an empowering leadership approach to managing through change.
