Merton, in the heart of southwest London, has exciting ambitions for regeneration and development over the next 10 years.
The Future Merton team is dynamic and forward thinking in its approach to enabling development. Future Merton has been created to bring together disciplines from placemaking, planning, regeneration, highways, economic development, transport planning, climate change and urban design to deliver growth .
Creating new Local Implementation Plans to combine Wimbledon's Crossrail2 and Morden's Housing Zone, and playing a leading role in providing expert transport advice for planning applications for sporting venues, new homes and neighbourhoods are just some of the exciting activities Merton is undertaking over the next few years,
Applications are invited from highly motivated individuals who have the skills and enthusiasm to undertake a wide variety of work on transport planning matters.
Your role will involve leading on new transport planning policies, providing expert comments on developments from a transport perspective, assessing sites for allocation and development and making a major contribution to the regeneration projects. You will play an active part in commissioning and undertaking research, site visits, public consultation and working with the team to set the guidance for new development in Merton
The successful candidate should be a strong written and verbal communicator and have a good working knowledge of transport planning and active travel from a UK perspective. Knowledge and experience of the London context would be an advantage.
You should have good project management skills and prepared to work in the office and visit sites around the borough.
