Female Support Worker
Female Support Worker, (Eastleigh, Southampton)
GBP14.55 - GBP16.72 per hour
14 hours per week
Female staff required as a Genuine Occupational Qualification (SDA 1975)
This role offers the opportunity to work directly with a 54 year old woman in her own home, with the focus on providing highly individualised support and personal care.
The client has acquired brain injury which has resulted in significant cognitive and physical disabilities requiring a comprehensive 24 hour care regime. She is a wheelchair user so there are manual handling tasks involved in managing personal care routines. There are also complex emotional and behavioural needs, as our client is one with more challenging behaviour requiring 2 to 1 care. Full training will be provided, along with support from a cohesive team.
You will be working closely with colleagues to carry out tasks and activities, supported by the multidisciplinary team. Tasks include management of personal care routines, supporting to attend external appointments and implementing a behavioural management programme. Much of the work however is based in the client's home.
A full clean driving licence is required.
An understanding of how the care system works will be helpful but full induction, training, and supervision will be given. Our experience has been that the individual will require resilience and have to be able to adopt a working style consistent with the team and behavioural guidelines. The successful candidate is required to have a mature outlook and needs to be open to receiving training and joining a well-established and integrated team.
