Our specialised Autism Supported Living Service in Reading provides a unique housing and support service to 5 young adults with autistic spectrum disorders. Our service provides the only autism-specific accommodation based service in Reading and we pride ourselves on our ability to provide person-centred, tailored support to ensure individuals are able to explore life opportunities, develop skills and aspire to achieve their goals.
We are looking for a knowledgeable, resourceful and energetic Team Manager to lead our dedicated support workers in the provision of a high-quality, autism-specific service. You must be enthusiastic about the provision of services for individuals on the autistic spectrum and have a good insight into best practice & research in this field. We are looking for an individual who can work with our senior team to progress through the NAS accreditation process by developing your expertise through evidence-based practice.
You will be able to contribute and participate in our National Autism Working Groups and will act as our Autism Lead across our Berkshire services, offering support and guidance to other managers working with individuals on the autistic spectrum. You will have the opportunity to work with our qualified Positive Behaviour Support Team and be a part of our wider initiatives for forward thinking approaches.
You must have excellent communication skills and be able to demonstrate unconditional positive regard for the people we support. You must be able to write clear assessments, support plans & guidelines work which follow a strengths based approach. You must be able to lead a team with confidence, providing clear guidance & support to your team members. You will work positively within a consistent, mutually supportive team ethos. You will be able to communicate positively and professionally with the families of the people we support, their advocates and other agencies.
You must be willing to actively embrace all aspects of the role including support with personal care and domestic tasks as well as community activities, day trips and holidays. The service has the benefits of being situated in the centre of Reading and is easily accessible by bus and car. You will be required to manage rotas whilst working flexibly yourself, including working evenings, weekends and sleep-ins.
