About us

We are the UK's nursing and midwifery regulator. We exist to protect the health and wellbeing of the public by setting standards for education, maintaining a register of nurses and midwives and investigating individuals whose fitness to practise is called into question. We are embarking on a major improvement and change programme, and this role is a key part of enabling that to happen.

About the role

This is an exciting and challenging role working with senior staff to ensure that corporate performance is really well reported to the top team and non-executive Council, enabling the organisation to be managed nimbly and effectively. It provides a great opportunity to see the high level view of how the NMC is working, as well as develop skills that have a wide application.

Reporting to an experienced manager in this area, it covers the full cycle of corporate performance management - from business planning to integrated performance and risk reporting. You will also help in managing the outsourced Internal Audit function so that it works effectively to support senior management.

About you

You will be a dynamic individual with skills in cross departmental and team working. You will be able to demonstrate strong competences around delivery and communicating, including written reports, as well as an appetite for making improvements. Good analytical skills are also really important. You should have some experience in at least one of the areas of focus for this role - risk, business planning, or performance reporting.

Experience of working in a regulatory or public sector environment may be advantageous.
