Job Specification:

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Management Information (MI) team based in Fareham as a Senior Data Analyst. The successful candidate will play a key role in working with the team and stakeholders to understand requirements in order to scope, produce and supervise reporting that answers complex business questions. The MI team is predominantly responsible for the manipulation and extraction of data in order to produce daily, weekly, monthly and ad hoc MI reports, for both internal and external customers. Alongside your usual duties you will take a lead role in assisting the MI Manager in supporting the team and providing cover on occasion in their absence.

* producing regular and complex MI on time and in line with business/ professional requirements;
* to take responsibility to monitor the reporting and ensure that deadlines are met by the team;
* meeting with customers in order to scope new methods of reporting and co-ordinate the request of any necessary system changes;
* making proactive decisions regarding data storage and reporting changes as and when required by the business and its customers;
* assisting with projects;
* creating/altering SQL procedures;
* managing reporting arrays in MS SQL to ensure they stay up to date with our fast growing business and continue to build efficiently;
* assisting in training, supporting and providing feedback to team members;
* to independently develop your understanding of data and to use this in validating outputs; and
* any other MI/ management related duties as and when required.

Skills/ competencies/ experience required:
* a thorough attention to detail;
* strong communication skills;
* good documentation skills;
* be able to evidence excellent organisational skills and the ability to work to deadlines;
* an investigative nature and excellent analytical and problem solving skills;
* proficient in MS SQL coding, with particular reference to data analysis;
* experience in the checking/ reviewing of others' SQL code and offering feedback;
* advanced MS SQL abilities (e.g. dynamic SQL) are desirable but not essential;
* advanced Excel skills, including complex formulas and pivot tables;
* experience in a supervisory position;
* a degree in mathematics/ statistics or similar is desirable, but not essential;
* experience using data visualisation software is desirable, but not essential; and
* a willingness to occasionally travel to other offices will be required.
