Do you have proven experience of successfully managing large complex accommodation and construction projects and a real desire to play a key role in a genuinely high profile programme of works? Then make the move to the House of Commons Strategic Estates Northern Estates Programme (NEP) team.
Our Strategic Estates department manages property and engineering infrastructures across a Parliamentary estate that consists of buildings that range from the historic Palace of Westminster to the modern Portcullis House. The Northern Estate's listed buildings are currently occupied by over 1,000 people, including MPs, their staff and administration and are in varying states of repair. Richmond House is particularly important to the programme as it offers substantial potential decant accommodation within the secure perimeter. Accordingly, the delivery of this project is of particular importance. That's where you come in.
Your challenge? To support the Senior Project Leader in the delivery of the complex accommodation and construction aspects of the Richmond House project and to deliver the full business case in the context of the wider NEP. Day-to-day, we'll rely on you to act proactively as a point of contact for a variety of stakeholders. You'll also need to work closely with colleagues in other departments to ensure commonality of accommodation standards across the estate. Briefing, appointing and managing external consultants and contractors will be important too, as will establishing and communicating timescales for the projects. And, when it comes to making sure projects remain within the agreed scope and approved funding, contributing to a comprehensive business case or taking an active part in developing strategies, standards and guidelines, again, it's you we'll be counting on to deliver.
Adept at managing, motivating and leading technical professionals, you have a relevant professional or technical qualification in construction and membership of an accredited organization. You're also a natural at planning, prioritising and delivering tasks while taking risk into account. A proven ability to manage external consultants and contractors and bring in projects on time, within budget and to agreed quality standards is also key, as is experience of working at senior management level and performing the intelligent client role for internal customers. What's more, you have a recognised project or programme management qualification (i.e. PRINCE2 or similar) and experience of using structured project management techniques for planning and controlling programmes.
- Annual leave starting at 28 days pro rata
- Interest-free season ticket loan
- Child care voucher scheme
- Discounted membership of the in-house gym
All applications must be submitted on a House of Commons application form.
