Natural Resources Wales is a unique organisation, not only in Wales, but worldwide.  Created 4 years ago, NRW’s purpose is the sustainable management of natural resources.  With 1,750 staff and a budget of £185m this innovative organisation has a significant opportunity and legal duty to enhance well-being in Wales, for current and future generations.  In addition, NRW is challenged with improving the resilience and quality of Wales’ ecosystems, delivering positive outcomes on complex societal and economic issues, promoting innovation for successful and responsible business, and helping people live healthier and more fulfilled lives. NRW is seeking to appoint a new Chief Executive to build on its early development and create an outstanding organisation that realises its full potential, in a great place to live and work.

Role

  • Reporting to the Chair and Board, lead, inspire, and motivate the organisation to deliver the sustainable management of Wales’ natural resources in a dynamic, collaborative, innovative way
  • Lead the delivery of a new strategic plan to further embed an integrated approach to service provision, through ‘place based’ local and regional working to enhance the well-being of Wales’ future generations
  • Drive enhanced collaboration, change, continuous improvement and service delivery; building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Background

  • An established and experienced organisational leader with a vibrant and engaging style that empowers staff to deliver exceptional work
  • Track record of working effectively and collaboratively, inspiring staff at all levels to deliver high quality services, and of leading and managing change in a complex, regulated organisation with multiple objectives
  • Significant political awareness, outstanding communication, interpersonal and influencing skills and the ability to be a true champion for NRW, our people and our natural resources
