Research Scientist: Biological/Synthesis Chemist
Rothamsted Research is looking to recruit an experienced Biological / Synthesis Chemist for an initial 3-year fixed-term contract with the potential for tenure track.
The post-holder will be responsible for taking a leading role on the identification and structure elucidation of secondary metabolite natural products involved in the chemical ecology of pest-host interactions, and chemical synthesis to verify structure, elucidate stereochemistry and provide material for biological testing in the laboratory and in the field.
The successful candidate will also be responsible for management of the Biointeractions and Crop Protection (BCP) department synthetic chemistry laboratory, and for running of the BCP department 500 MHz Nuclear Magnetic Resonance facility. In time, the post-holder is expected to develop their own novel research relating to the chemical ecology of pest-host interactions for next generation crop protection.
Applicants should have a PhD qualification in a relevant scientific discipline and experience in applying biological / synthetic chemistry skills to challenges in crop protection. The starting salary will be within the range GBP37890 to GBP41438 per annum. Interviews are likely to held during the first week in September 2017.
