About the company
A highly regarded, Devon based firm of Chartered Accountants is currently looking to expand its team in a number of areas, including the addition of an experienced Accounts & Audit Senior.
With offices in two prominent Devon locations, the firm has enjoyed continued growth for more than 50 years. Its success is demonstrated not only in the loyalty of its client base, but also by the fact that the majority of partners all trained with the firm, which is huge testament to their commitment to professional development.

About the role
With clients across a wide range of sectors, including limited companies, non-profit organisations and education, the role offers great variety from one audit assignment to the next. You'll be working as part of an engaged team, supporting the Audit Manager and Audit Partner, and taking an active lead in the delivery of client audits and accounts preparation as follows:

* Plan and carry out audits, with responsibility for leading certain assignments, both onsite and from the firm's Exeter office
* Preparation of statutory accounts and financial statements
* Overseeing effective delivery of audits, ensuring minimal disruption to client businesses
* Reviewing work of the audit team
* Mentoring and support of junior staff
* Managing client engagement. The firm recognises the importance of continuity in building effective client relationships, not just at time of audit but throughout the accounting year
* Identify and recommend ways for clients to improve controls and minimise risk

Who they're looking for

* Part or fully qualified Accountant, either ACA or ACCA
* Current or recent experience in a similar role, with at least the aptitude to lead audits if not already doing so
* Whilst not essential, previous experience auditing in the charity or sector or for education trusts, will be beneficial
* Effective communication skills, being comfortable supervising and directing a team as well as leading client relationships

What's in it for you?
With a proven track record of developing its staff, this role offers longer term progression to more senior roles within the practice. They are also competitive in respect of salary and benefits as follows:

* Base salary dependent upon qualification status and experience, reviewed regularly
* Support for professional training, subscriptions and ongoing CPD
* Pension scheme, private healthcare and life insurance
* 30 days holiday (including bank holidays)

Sound good?
The partners are interested in meeting experienced accountants who meet the above criteria and are keen to further their career in practice.
