Let's talk about working for Capita

Empathy. Compassion. Experience. As a Disability Assessor, you will combine these qualities to assess the impact of disability on an individual's functional ability. Personal Independence Payment (PIP) is a benefit to support people with a long-term health condition or impairment, whether physical, sensory, mental, cognitive, intellectual, or any combination of these. It is paid to make a contribution to the extra costs that disabled people may face.

Working for Capita Personal Independence Payment (PIP), you will use your clinical expertise to help us deliver PIP assessments in your local area. This is your chance to help ensure that benefits are targeted towards those most in need and to help them lead full, active and independent lives. Are you ready to step up to the challenge? Let's talk about whether a career in disability assessment is for you.

Let's talk about a rewarding career

As a Disability Assessor, you will hold face-to-face assessments with people living with long-term health conditions either in their home, or at one of our local assessment centres. This role isn't about diagnosing symptoms - it's about combining understanding and expertise to build a picture of an individual's condition and the impact it has on their day to day life. This role involves plenty of hard work - but, if you've got the drive and determination to go far, it offers plenty of rewards, too.

Here you will:
*Conduct face-to-face assessments
*Create a report for each completed assessment
*Review supporting evidence
*Present your reports to the Department for Work and Pension (England and Wales) or Department for Communities (Northern Ireland) clearly providing the advice, information and justification needed by the Case Manager in order for them to make an equitable decision on entitlement to PIP
*Attend CPD training events and keep up to date with the PIP assessment process.

What we are looking for:
*Fully qualified healthcare professionals - nurses, occupational therapists, paramedics or physiotherapists that hold full registration with HCPC or NMC
*A minimum of two years' post-qualification experience
*Experience in a patient-facing role
*Sound written communication skills and previous report-writing experience
*Ability to manage conversations and ask questions effectively
*Confidence working with computers and able to type well at good speed
*Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential

What's in it for you?

This is an opportunity to use your professional skills and experience to make a difference to the lives of people living with a long term impairment or disability. We will motivate you to perform at your peak, recognising your achievements and always rewarding you properly. Here, training and development aren't optional extras: they're part of the fabric of our culture. As well a generous basic salary, you'll receive a competitive benefits package, considerable opportunities for training and progression, and genuine interest and care in your development. All of this, in a professional and supportive environment where you can make a real difference.
