About the role

The Bank Reconciliation Officer will work as part of a team supporting the delivery of our transactional financial services contract with our local government clients. They will ensure that all of the daily tasks relating to the bank reconciliations are completed correctly. The role will report operationally to the Assistant Financial Services Contract Manager and will play an important part in the successful delivery of a significant partnership for Capita Local Government Business Services. The role will be based in Twickenham, with some travel to Capita sites in/near London.

We are seeking candidates who can work independently and collaboratively, with very good eye for detail, have a broad understanding of a transactional finance function and of working in a shared service environment.

Key Responsibilities

The key responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Management of scheduled bank reconciliations and associated tasks within the timescales required.

  • Liaising with client departments to ensure quick resolution of queries and the identification and prevention of potential issues before they arise.

  • Assisting the Assistant Financial Services Contract Manager in monitoring KPIs and ensuring the delivery of scheduled and ad-hoc reporting to tight timescales.

  • Ensuring all documentation is updated, current and available.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience of using financial systems and technology.

  • Good communication and inter-personal skills.

  • Ability to manage own workload and prioritise effectively to meet tight deadlines.

  • Finance qualification equivalent to AAT level 2 or higher or QBE

  • Understanding of working in a shared services environment.

Knowledge

  • Sound knowledge of financial systems and their associated financial controls.

  • Understanding of how a transactional finance function in a public sector organisation may operate.

  • Solid MS Excel skills.
