We're Anthony Nolan and we save the lives of people with blood cancer who need a stem cell transplant.

We're unique. Thanks to the incredible donors on our register, our pioneering research and our passionate fundraisers, we give the chance of life to three people a day.

But we won't stop there. We want to be there for everyone who needs a transplant; from finding a match, through every step of a patient's transplant journey. And together we can reach the remarkable day when we can save the lives of everyone with blood cancer.

And now we want you to join our lifesaving team. We are looking for a Research Assistant to join the Anthony Nolan Research Institute.

Working as a member of the HLA Informatics Group, you will assist with the daily management and coordination of the Haematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation (HSCT) patient and donor characterisation project. As part of the role, you will be responsible for the daily collection, sterile separation of lymphocytes and the storage of patient and donor samples along with the maintenance of clinical data, ensuring that the correct and current ethical and laboratory guidelines are followed at all times.

You will also be involved in the development of molecular tests to identify genetic polymorphisms using a range of Molecular Biology techniques including the third generation sequencing method Single Molecule Real-Time (SMRT) sequencing, and use these tests to characterise the HSCT study cohort.

The successful candidate must have a first class or 2:i degree in a Biological Science or equivalent. Good organisational skills are essential as you will be required to cope with large workloads while continually showing meticulous attention to detail. Previous experience in a molecular biology laboratory using techniques such as primer design and Sanger sequencing is advantageous, as well as knowledge of HLA or other Immunogenetic gene systems.

Release your remarkable, join our team and give someone a chance of life.
