Digital Content Editor
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and talented science communicator to join the Medical Research Council (MRC) - a publicly-funded organisation dedicated to improving human health. We support research across the entire spectrum of medical sciences, in universities and hospitals, in our own units, centres and institutes in the UK, and in our units in Africa.
About the role:
The MRC's Editorial and Publishing team is looking for a Digital Content Editor on an initial 18 month contract, but with the potential to become permanent.
You'll generate ideas, plan and write (or commission) content for MRC's digital channels including blog articles, features and success stories. You'll be able to spot the potential for an engaging story, and quickly get up to speed with the MRC's strategy so that you can develop content in support of our current priorities.
You'll also manage the corporate Twitter and Facebook accounts, so you'll be confident at engaging with audiences on social media channels.
You will have a degree in the biological/medical sciences or equivalent.
Having previous experience as a science writer or editor within a corporate communications team, or with a journal/media background and experience of managing the production of digital content is essential for this role.
You must have experience of managing and creating content for corporate social media channels and track record of producing copy at a fast pace and working to deadlines.
You will have excellent copywriting, editing and proofreading skills and the ability to recognise and research an interesting story.
