The Organisation:

A growing, exciting business comprising multiple legal entities requires a financial accountant. Over the last five years the business has developed a substantial property portfolio through a combination of development, purchase of investment properties and entering into joint ventures with third parties. Whilst predominantly in the UK the business has substantial managed investments in Europe and North America.

The Role:

The role involves working closely with, and providing support to, the Financial Controller, as well as being key in helping provide high-quality, timely financial support to the Commercial Director, Planning Director and their respective departments.

• Treasury and working capital management, including timing and quantum of supplier payment runs.
• Completion of covenant testing for external funders.
• Input into drafting of year-end financial statements under relevant accounting standards (UK GAAP, Swiss GAAP) and keeping technical knowledge up to date.
• Maintenance of purchase, sales and rent ledgers
• Input into completion of quarterly management accounts.
• Play a key role in preparation of annual budgets including liaising with Heads of Department.
• Liaison with key banks in respect of the operation of financing arrangements.
• Liaison with and provision of support to the Commercial department with regard to all financial matters including:
• Budgets v actual.
• Debt management.
• Service charge accounts.
• Tenant covenant assessment.
• Timely KPI presentation to the Commercial department.
• Monitor and audit cash flow on residential projects.
• Conduct an audit of the cash flows and progress to date as appropriate.
• Maintain all underlying accounting records for overseas entity.
• Maintain underlying accounting records, complete VAT returns and any other necessary documentation for our joint ventures.
• Deal with all administrative aspects of managing joint ventures identifying any issues early to management.
• Be very much involved in review of accounting practices to enhance the overall financial control and continuous development of the finance department.

The Individual:

• We anticipate the successful candidate being a qualified, or at finalist level, ACA, ACCA or CIMA
• Someone who is flexible, self-starting, confident and willing to learn, who has the ability to "get stuck in" in what is a tightly run finance department.
• The successful candidate should be able to communicate at a range of levels, and should possess a good degree of IT literacy
