Who are we and what do we do?

We are a multi award winning, national company, with a North-West focus. We are an established Learning Provider and are accredited with City & Guilds of London, Oxford, Cambridge and RSA Examinations, with strong affiliations to the Glass Qualifications Authority (GQA) and other awarding bodies. Covering a variety of occupations, we have a range of depth and experience that few, if any, other similar organisations can match. The Vocational College enjoys substantial contracts for the delivery of NVQ based training with the Skills Funding Agency and the Young Peoples Learning Agency.

Our Programmes have been designed to meet the needs of employers and provide both young people and experienced workers with quality training towards nationally recognised qualifications in their chosen career sectors and we now need a Personal Social Development Tutor to work within 14-19 Study Programme provision.

What will you be doing in this Personal Social Development Tutor role:

You will be working with 14 to 19 year olds and assisting them towards their individual learning needs, providing additional support where necessary and make assessment decisions to judge competence against their chosen award(s). To ensure this, you will maintain delivery standards in accordance with the Common Inspection Framework (CIF) and formulate development plans for ongoing improvement and in accordance with guidelines set by EFA. Your key responsibilities will be:

Teaching and Learning.

Deliver teaching sessions to meet the requirements of the Common Inspection Framework (CIF)
Design/Deliver/Maintain an effective and innovative curriculum to meet the standards set by the company.
Agree and set targets with learners and review students' progress in accordance with contractual requirements and Company systems.
Prepare and plan the effective delivery of all vocational activity sessions.Assessing Achievement.

Involve employers when planning assessments where appropriate.
Integrate N.V.Q and F.S competence during all activities.
Incorporate various individualised and personalised assessment methods throughout the programme.
Plan and monitor the timely progress of all learners assigned to sessions.
Be responsible for the regular review and target setting of learners.What skills and experience will you need to be considered?

The essential qualifications are:

CET or equivalent
Experience in teaching PSDThe desirable qualifications are:

first aid
TAQA4Experience of working with young people would be an advantage but is not essential.

Due to the nature of our business you will be required to have an enhanced DBS check.
