Group Financial Planner
An opportunity has arisen for a qualified accountant to join the GFP function. GFP is a Financial, Planning & Analysis team that supports the Group Finance Director in the delivery of outputs to a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders and is responsible for the preparation, review and assessment of all consolidated financial information for the Group, including management and statutory accounts.

The key role of GFP is to manage all Group financial outputs. This includes the preparation of the consolidated monthly management accounts, quarterly forecasts and annual budgets, the control of the year end audit process, monitoring the tax compliance of the Group and deputising for the Director of Corporate Financial Services in any commitments.

The role will involve

* Controlling the year-end audit process, managing the timetable of tasks required on the path to final sign-off of the accounts and interacting with various stakeholders during the process,
* Preparation of the Group Consolidated Financial Statements, including the Group cash flow statement and detailed working papers in support of the consolidated accounts to enable the external auditors to efficiently complete their review of the consolidation.
* Preparation of statutory accounts for all of the Groups UK trading companies
* Providing technical accounting guidance and support to the divisional finance teams and drafting papers on Group accounting policies for liaison with external auditors as necessary.
* Preparation of presentations to the Board, explaining the statutory process, any audit adjustments and financial results in comparison to management accounts.

**Full job description is available on demand

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

* Qualified accountant (ACA or equivalent) with a strong all-round knowledge of the current technical financial reporting environment with an emphasis on UK GAAP
* Practical understanding of the statutory and tax compliance filing requirements of a large group, including experience of consolidation
* A background in audit practice and/or experience of liaising with external auditors would be preferable, although, lacking this, experience in a large group financial function will be considered
* Demonstrable experience of prioritising workload and managing multiple tight deadlines effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
* Confidence in IT with strong office skills (Excel, PowerPoint and Word); exposure to a financial consolidation system would be an advantage
