Children deserve the best start in life, they deserve love, kindness, guidance and most importantly... safety within their own home! Unfortunately, not all children receive this which sometimes can result in children having to deal with milestones and everyday and normal life issues in a very different way to what they would, should they have had their supportive family around them. No child should have this treatment, but when they do, they have services around them that can work hard to not only give them the best start to life once they are in the care setting, but they gain an understanding of the childs past and enable the child to understand themselves what has happened and how it has potentially affected them. What we need, is strong, committed and focused candidates to take on the responsibility to build a team and play a family/parental role to the children and young people in our homes. Can you be that person?

The employer provides care and educational packages within a therapeutic environment for children and young people. They have a small number of homes with the country and offer either 2 or 3 young person placements. They offer medium to long-term placements, usually on a 52 week basis.

All our staff are trained and supported by a team of highly skilled consultant psychologists who assist the delivery of individual Education, Care and Health plans and guide therapeutic practice in our schools and childrens homes. You will be working 10 shifts on and 20 shifts off every month. You will works 24.5hours shifts (8am - 8.30am) with 8 hours per month of training or team meetings. You will support the children, build relationships, assist them in anything they need and guide them into a good and healthy life.

In regards to what we are looking from candidates is commitment, the want to do the role, common sense, use of initiative and to forward think. You will have the NVQ 3 in Children and YP (if not, you will have something children related; social work, childhood studies ect) and exp within residential settings and therapeutic environments. However, if you do not have this but have worked within a prison, secure unit or similar, I would be interested in speaking with you. You need energy, focus, ability and want to build the relationships with the children, to make choices about the children with the same priorities as you would your own, have a broad understanding and it would be great if you had LD and attachment disorder exp.

A full time salary of GBP22,925 will be offered for a full time and permanent role working 10 shifts throughout the month (generally 2 - 3 shifts per week) and to complete 8 hours per month of team meetings or training.
