About the team

The Older People Team

The Older People Community Teams work with individuals aged 65 and over. Join us, and you'll be fully supported on our multi-disciplinary team and, together, we'll deliver social care as it should be. Here, you'll have the time to undertake social care community assessments, statutory reviews and mental capacity assessments while promoting the use of re-ablement and telecare. Your role will involve attending multidisciplinary meetings, undertaking safeguarding investigations, completing carers' assessments and providing advice and information. You will also complete social care intervention for those cases where the need has been identified and ongoing intervention is required. You'll benefit from working alongside other health partners, police and voluntary organisations.

Knowledge, skills and experience
  • Diploma / Degree in Social Work
  • HCPC registered
  • Case load management in line with the Care Act
  • Excellent organisation skills with the ability to manage your own time
  • Ability to engage and influence with multiple agencies
  • Passionate and driven to support your own continuing personal development (CPD)

The role requires you to be mobile throughout a wide operational area including travelling around the county of Essex and beyond, transporting service users and their belongings and to be able to do so in an emergency. Driving licence and car or ability to meet the mobility requirements of the role through other means is essential.

As part of employment with Essex County Council should your role require a DBS check you will be required to register with the DBS update service. The DBS update service ensures all registered DBS certificates are kept up to date and allows authorised parties to view the status of your certificate.
