Salary: GBP39,243 - GBP42,382 plus GBP3,057 Inner London Weighting

Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract Ending 31/3/2018, Full time, 36 hours a week

25 days holiday (27 days after 5 years' service)

The Role

We are seeking a Prevent Education Officer to increase children and young people's resilience to terrorism and radicalisation and promote the Prevent strategy across Camden. This is a new role funded by the Home Office and will involve providing advice and support to primary and secondary schools on their compliance with the Prevent statutory duty, including identifying resources to embed Prevent in the curriculum. Key to this role will be developing and maintaining effective working relationships with Prevent partners, including the police, probation and prison services, schools and colleges as well as regular and proactive contact with DfE and the Home Office.

To do well in this role you will have experience and a sound understanding of educational settings and working with staff in schools to effect change. You will have an excellent understanding of Prevent and safeguarding in relation to children and young people and the ability to respond sensitively to local issues whilst maintaining a consistent approach across all forms of extremism. Your communication skills will enable clear and concise report writing with the ability to influence and motivate a wide range of people within an educational setting. You will also have the ability to deliver Workshops to Raise Awareness of Prevent (WRAP) training to school staff, governors and managers. Your experience of project management and strategic planning as well as having the ability to work creatively will be a requirement of this role.
