About the Team
We are expanding NPLs world leading Electromagnetics Measurements Group and have opportunities for engineers, scientist and technicians to join us. The group is responsible for delivering the highest quality of measurement services for electrical, radio, microwave and optical parameters. We achieve this through using, maintaining and developing the UK's primary standards covering a wide range of the electromagnetic spectrum, from Direct Current to optical wavelengths. Additionally to developing facilities for our own use, we supply bespoke measurement capability and training to other measurement laboratories
We are seeking to recruit calibration scientists or technicians into our radio frequency antenna and optical laboratories. Your principle role would be as part of the team calibrating instruments used within the electronics and communication industries. You would also have the opportunity to work as part of a wider team developing NPL's own facilities to meet new and challenging requirements from our customers.
The ideal candidate(s) will have one or more of the following skills:
- As a minimum, GCSEs in Maths, Science and English are required with science qualifications at A-level;
- Have an interest in learning about delivering measurement science;
- The successful candidate must have good written and oral communication skills
- Technical aptitude, computer literacy and, accuracy
- Excellent team working and relationship skills;
- Be self-motivated to deliver world leading measurement;
The technician role(s) may be suitable for a recent school leaver or career break returner with a passion for science and engineering. While a knowledge of measurement science is desirable, full training, support and staff development will be provided.
For the higher positions, a degree or relevant experience with a physical science (physics, engineering etc) would be expected.

Based in a unique, purpose-built research environment, we are located in beautiful surroundings on the edge of Bushy Park, south-west London with a host of onsite facilities. These include a subsidised cr??che, restaurant and free parking.
