Fostering Deputy Team Manager - Support the Mockingbird Project
Provide Support to Social Workers and Help Drive the Mockingbird Project
A London based Local Authority is looking to take on an experienced Senior Practitioner/Manager as a Deputy Team Manager within their Fostering service. This is a very stable service with members of the team being in post for more than 4 years; the reason for the vacancy is the previous manager has relocated to another region of the country.
The Authority's Fostering Service is currently going through an exciting period after receiving funding from the DfE's Social Care Innovation Programme to setup the Mockingbird Project. The Mockingbird Project is an innovative model which aims to create 6 - 10 satellites of Foster and Kinship carers who live in close proximity to a dedicated hub of specially trained carers offering respite care, peer support, regular joint planning and social activities. So far the project has been successful in the 1st cohort of Local Authorities to take on this approach.
As a Deputy Team Manager you will be helping supporting and developing Social Workers within the team. There will be some operation management involved, although this will not be the sole focus of the role. You will be very much involved in the implementation of the Mockingbird Project and based on the results from other Local Authorities who have adopted the model it is likely to be successful, which will improve your employability when looking to the future.
To be considered for this post you should have experience of working in a Fostering service as well as managing Social Workers.
