We're a dynamic and modern university proudly responsible for preparing 27,000 students from 140 countries to take their next steps. With strong global and local connections, we offer an inspiring, diverse work environment where you can develop your skills and experience alongside over 3,000 staff members passionate about higher education.

We are seeking a Research Associate to join our team to work on a project aiming to understand the impact of rheumatic diseases on men, and to identify current support in rheumatic diseases for men and its uptake. The project will involve:

•A systematic literature review on the psychosocial impact of ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis and the connective tissue diseases. The results of which will be combined with those from a previously published literature review on the psychosocial impact of rheumatoid arthritis

•A survey study to assess support provided to patients with rheumatic diseases across the UK through NHS Trusts and national charities, and how well attended/accessed these are by men. This will be important information to identify the diseases where support is particularly lacking, or available but not accessed.

You will need to understand how to conduct a systematic literature review and use quantitative research methods with support from the study team. Knowledge of the value and role of self-management in long term conditions is required, as is an interest in gender or masculinity in relation to self -management of long term conditions.

Being qualified to a minimum of Masters level, in an area relating to nursing, research methods, psychology, sociology, or health service design and delivery is essential.

This is an excellent opportunity for an early career researcher looking to develop their research skills.
