Orchard Vale Trust exists to enable people with learning disabilities to be supported to take more control of their lives and to play a fuller role in the community. Based in Somerset, we deliver high quality residential and day services and are determined to continue to excel in the support and services we offer.

Last year, Orchard Vale Trust celebrated our 30th anniversary.

Building on Orchard Vale Trust's past successes, this is a rare opportunity to provide inspirational leadership and strategic direction to a well-resourced and successful medium sized social care charity based in a delightful part of the country.

Replacing our current Chief Executive Officer who is retiring, you will be responsible for ensuring the continuation of our high-quality care services as well as the opportunity to develop our small but growing community service.

Working to a strategy currently being put in place by our Board of Trustees, you will work closely with a small senior staff team to develop new practical ways of supporting individuals both in our existing services and in planned new developments. As our strategic plan is finalised, there is a unique opportunity to shape and develop the Trust's work to benefit more individuals with learning disabilities and their friends and families.

We are looking for a successful leader who can combine excellent strategic, planning and leadership skills.

Critical to your success will be a genuine passion for making a difference to the lives of people with learning disabilities. Due to our size, you need to be prepared to undertake a wide range of tasks, and you must have the ability to successfully relate to a wide range of individuals. Most importantly you will need the ability to directly relate to people with learning disabilities. We expect you to create a participative culture that values the contribution of all.

Previous management experience in a health, social care, or people focused setting is essential. However we are looking for what you can achieve and offer us rather than any specific previous career path.

We do expect you to demonstrate successful leadership in previous roles, have an ability to translate strategic aims into practical plans, and demonstrate excellent communication skills
