Second Chef
08.00-17.30, alternate weekends, no evenings or split shifts
Objective of role:
  • Responsible for assisting the Head Chef in the day to day running and management of the kitchen
  • Responsible for open and / or closedown of kitchen on a rota basis
  • Majority of shifts will be with Head Chef or other Second Chef but occasionally will manage shifts alone
Delivering our Food offer
  • Prepare and present food to a consistently high quality standard and ensure all final products leaving the kitchen are to the correct specification
  • Manage the Pass and ensure clear and consistent communication with Front of House Manager and team
  • Responsible for customer satisfaction in relation to the restaurant food offer
  • Work in partnership with Front of House Manager and team to ensure every service runs smoothly and customers' queries and requests are resolved in a timely and proactive manner
  • Manage exceptions, dietary requirements and Allergen queries
  • Direct staff as required to ensure all operational tasks are completed safely and efficiently
  • Ensure all kitchen staff follow correct food hygiene standards
  • Check work is appropriately and fairly distributed amongst the team
  • Oversee Pot wash team
Kitchen Environment
  • Follow the stock labelling and rotation system to ensure products are identifiable and used in the correct order
  • Ensure cleaning checklists are adhered to and staff are directed to cleaning duties
  • Ensure good organisation and efficient processes followed
