HOURS: 36 hours

St Christopher's Hospice has pioneered the development of supportive and palliative care in inpatient, day care and community settings for over 40 years. Social work has been at the heart of St Christopher's for the last 50 years. The social work team currently works with patients and their families in ward and community settings. All of our patients have advanced, life limiting diseases.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the social work team for a dynamic, innovative and motivated HCPC registered social worker. The team have been at the forefront of palliative care social work. The ever increasing demand for high quality end of life services now demand a skill mix within the team. We are looking to recruit social workers with excellent relational casework skills as well as knowledge of community development and other strength based social work models.

We want to further develop our strong, diverse, multi-disciplinary teams made up of doctors, nurses, and OT's, art and music therapists through social work interventions. We are looking to recruit social workers who are committed and curious about social work practice at the end of life.

We want to recruit social workers capable of working with patients of all ages, who are committed to families and carers and who view our communities as a source of expertise and opportunities to co-produce new responses. The work is very varied, challenging and ultimately rewarding.

We are committed to supporting the professional development of all of our MDT professionals and we are able to offer various other educational opportunities in a world renowned setting.

The successful candidate will have an interest in making, through social work, a difference to patient and family care, ideally although not exclusively have previous experience in specialist palliative care or oncology and will have proven social work experience using a variety of interventions.
