Ofgem is committed to making a positive difference for energy consumers through effective regulation of the market and close working with suppliers to ensure sustainable energy for consumers and businesses in the UK.

The energy market is undergoing unprecedented change. Advances in technology, commitments to decarbonise the economy and changes in social patterns are driving opportunities for innovation and the development of new business models in the energy sector. We believe that such innovation will benefit consumers. As the sector regulator, we want to position ourselves as agents of innovation and not as an obstacle in its path.

Last year we launched our 'Innovation Link' as a new means of engaging and supporting those with new innovative propositions to enter the market. Ofgem's Innovation Link offers a 'one-stop shop' to advise and support those bringing new products and services to the energy market. We advise 'innovators' on the regulatory requirements that could impact or influence the viability of their product, and if appropriate consider flexibility on regulatory requirements if a new product shows it can offer benefits to energy consumers. The Innovation Link also fulfils a valuable market intelligence role - providing insights and analysis of trends to Ofgem on innovation in the energy market. This role manages a small team (4/5 people) to deliver the objectives of the Innovation Link and promote Ofgem's reputation as a supporter of new ideas in the energy sector.

To succeed in this role you'll need to demonstrate a clear passion for, and knowledge of, innovation in the energy sector, and an appreciation of both opportunities and risks presented to consumers. You'll need to show that you can arrive at sound judgements on complex issues, based on thorough analysis and evaluation of information. You'll have demonstrative experienced in leading and motivating a team to deliver to high standards and in a timely manner. You'll be able to foster strong relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders, to promote the Innovation Link and the benefits it can deliver to the sector.

Ofgem can offer you a comprehensive and competitive benefits package, which includes:

  • Up to 30 days' annual leave
  • Excellent training and development opportunities
  • The opportunity to join the Civil Service pension arrangements, which include a valuable range of benefits
  • Flexible working hours and family friendly policies
  • Subsidised gym and restaurant (London only)
  • Interest free season ticket loan.

Ofgem is an equal opportunities employer. Protecting consumers and powering the future of the energy debate.
