Ofgem is committed to making a positive difference for energy consumers through effective regulation of the market and close working with suppliers to ensure sustainable energy for consumers and businesses in the UK.

This is an opportunity for an experienced, senior manager who can bring a commercial approach to complex and high value tender processes relating to offshore transmission. You will have lead responsibility for a number of offshore transmission projects - each of which are at key stages of a tender process. You will lead on tender design, implementation and process delivery, reporting on key stage outcomes and planning ahead for next steps in the process. It's a role that involves extensive liaison within Ofgem, drawing on expert advice and support from legal and policy teams, and external parties within the energy industry and government representatives such as BEIS, HMT and Crown Estate. It's a role that will see you play a visible role in a fast-paced and high profile arena.

You should have previous experience of designing and implementing or delivering tenders, which could take place in the public or private sector, and present a thorough technical understanding of associated processes and legislation. A blend of project and people management skills will be key and you'll need to demonstrate experience in managing multiple projects and stakeholders across different professional disciplines, including external suppliers/consultants. You'll need highly developed communication skills and an appreciation of the importance of effective stakeholder engagement. Specific experience or knowledge of any of the following: infrastructure development; PPP/PFI initiatives; economic regulation; or energy and utility networks sectors, would all be of benefit, but aren't individually deemed to be essential requirements of the role.

Ofgem can offer you a comprehensive and competitive benefits package, which includes:

  • Up to 30 days' annual leave
  • Excellent training and development opportunities
  • The opportunity to join the Civil Service pension arrangements, which include a valuable range of benefits
  • Flexible working hours and family friendly policies
  • Subsidised gym and restaurant
  • Interest free season ticket loan.

Ofgem is an equal opportunities employer. Protecting consumers and powering the future of the energy debate.
