Planning Officer - Aylesbury

The Reward
Based in Aylesbury my client is willing to pay between GBP32,676 and GBP35,328 for motivated and experienced Development Officers- Building Control - depending on experience. My clients remit ranges from determining minerals and waste planning applications, through to handling the council's own planning applications for developments including schools and roads. They are also national leaders in waste enforcement.

The Role
The purpose and remit of the role
Determine large and complex planning applications - from quarries and landfill sites, to highways and new schools
Determine minerals and waste planning applications
Manage your own workload and deliver within the Government time frames
Manage planning appeals
Prepare reports for committee, etc.
Continually looks for ways to improve processes and service

The Candidate
To be considered for this position
Level 4 qualification in Building Control (or related discipline)
Eligible for (or ability to achieve) membership of RICS, CABE or CIOB
Sound knowledge or experience of handling building control applications including inspection of works, inquiries and appeals
Ability to gather and process evidence and make decisions on the appropriate course of action
Have strong experience of managing large and complex planning applications
Be familiar with policies and procedures
Have excellent communication and negotiation skills
Experience of working with a wide range of stakeholders including working closely with elected members and the development industry
Ability to understand legislation and good practice guidance
Have a genuine desire to grow and progress
